After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Beirut, I studied under Leonardo Cremonini at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris. I’d been translating to pay my way through university, which eventually led to me setting up Translatys, a translation agency that focuses exclusively on the arts, culture and luxury sectors.
I have lots of artists among my friends, and I’ve seen at firsthand how hard it is for them to promote themselves and garner public attention. Since I’ve worked with some of them, helping them think through their strategy or putting together exhibitions, I’ve picked up on how disappointed and frustrated they can get when they can't get across the message they want to convey to their audience. And at the same time, the public is often intimidated by a world they feel is inaccessible.
Combining these two realisations, I vowed to help, to promote talented artists and raise their profile, regardless of market trends or current fashions, so their work may be appreciated by a wider audience. I feel that my artistic background and experience have given me the capacity to understand an artwork in all its subtly nuanced expressions, so I can select artists who make a genuine contribution and whose authenticity is beyond all doubt.
I shall be an interpreter for the artists who I’m proud to present to you here, and it’s my firm intention to help them make a name for themselves beyond our borders.
